Review: The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong

I hated The Summoning.

I had to read it for a project, and it killed me.

It was completely bland and anticlimactic. I hated the main character, Chloe and I think that one of her love interests, Derek, is a rapist in training.

There was even a line in the book where someone said he (Derek) might go to jail for kidnapping a 14-year-old girl, in which Chloe tells him not to worry because she's 15.

LIKE...WTF!?!?!

I don't think there is anything redeemable about this book at all. I didn't give a rat's ass about what happened to any of the characters, and I have no wish whatsoever to read the rest of the books in the series.

It sucks because this actually has a good premise. This girl wakes up one day and can suddenly see ghosts but no one believes her so she gets put in a group home.

Look it's a used troupe, but if executed well, it could make a great read.

But it wasn't executed well and most of the time she was just walking around worrying about her life and what not.

This series is called The Darkest Powers Trilogy, and I know it has a strong fanbase because it has a 4.09 on Goodreads, so I'm sorry if you are offended. In my case this book just wasn't for me and if you've read my blog and agree with most things of the things I've said I can't recommend this book to you. If anything this would be on my do not read list.
